EIFS Repair Orlando, FL

technician preparing to do EIFS repair on building
This type of stucco was very popular back in the ’90s and even into the new millennium. These days though there are not a lot of people to proud to say that they still use this type of stucco. Its main problems are going to be with excessive moisture getting behind the stucco itself. With the amount of rain and humidity levels that we get around here in Orlando, these synthetic materials are not known to fare too well! Yet, we can still find this type of stucco in many homes and other buildings.

What Stucco Is In Your Home

It is actually not that hard to know which type of stucco was used in your home. At least with a couple of simple tips, you will be able to make a very educated guess. EIFS is hollow. So if you were to knock on a wall or a pillar that was made from EIFS you would hear that is hollow inside. Another way that you can determine the type of stucco that is being used on your property is to literally try and push the wall with your finger. If you feel that the material flexes it is EIFS if not you have traditional. Even if you call us and you make a mistake about the type of stucco that you need help with we won’t hold it against you so, no worries there!

Dents Are Going To Be Common

With EIFS being a lot less durable than traditional stucco it is more likely that having anything with a considerable amount of force hitting the wall will cause damages. Luckily even large dents and holes are going to be repaired fairly quickly. If you treat your home with care they don’t have to be an everyday issue. It is just something that you should keep in mind though!

Painting EIFS

A lot of EIFS manufacturers can get pretty picky with the paint that they allow people to use. It is not that you can’t use any paint that you want, but ideally, you are going to want to be using paint that is a little thicker in its overall composition. Using something that could be too moist may not go well with the EIFS. Also, certain manufacturers may use that as an excuse to void the warranty. So this is something that as professionals in the business we are always on the lookout for. The last thing we would want is for you to lose that warranty because of us!

Should I Be Worried If I Have EIFS?

There is no doubt that EIFS got a bad reputation over a wide variety of issues. Here in Orlando, it was widely regarded as a great option. Homes with EIFS were usually not as hot during the summer. Which, is one of the benefits of EIFS. It is not like all those homes came crumbling down. What you do need to do is just be on the lookout for cracks and other indicators of potential problems!
